Sharing files with patients
Chat
You can exchange files with patients in the chat.

Start a conversation with a patient.
This can be initiated from Quick Actions on the patient’s profile, or from the Chat page in the sidebar.

Click on the attach file icon 📎 next to the message input field.

Select the file you want to share.
You can choose to upload a file, or select a file from the patient’s files.

Click send.
The patient will receive a notification about the new message and be able to download it or view it on their mobile app.

The patient has persistent access to the file in their Chat archive.
Letters

Create a letter to a patient.
- Navigate to the Letters page in the sidebar of the Patient Profile.
- Click on the “Create letter” button.
- (optional) Select a template.

Save the letter as a draft. There must be a draft to attach a file to.

Click on the attach file button 📎 at the bottom of the letter.

Select the file you want to share.
You can choose to upload a file, or select a file from the patient’s files.

Send the Letter.
The patient will receive
- a Letter in their app inbox, with the file attached.
- (optional) an email with the Letter as a PDF document, and the files attached too.
There is a 25MB limit on the size of the files you can attach to a letter.

The patient has persistent access to the file in their Letter archive.
Templated Content
Appointments
It’s possible to share files with patients in templated appointment types. This means that the patient will receive a notification about the appointment, and the file will always be attached to the appointment.
We support both file and video attachments in appointment templates.
Medication
It’s also possible to share files with patients in templated medication types. This means that the patient will receive a notification about the medication reminder, and the file will always be attached to the medication.
We support both file and video attachments in appointment templates.
Consents
It’s possible to share Information packs with patients. These are files that contain information about the consents they’re about to complete, or the treatment they’re about to undergo.
We don’t support streaming video attachments in information packs.

Limitations
PDFs
It’s not possible to upload password protected PDFs to the system. They can’t be opened on the mobile app.
Images
Most images can be uploaded to the system. If you run into issues, please contact support.
DICOM medical imaging
These have to be rendered to a single image before they can be shared with a patient. The mobile app can’t render these files.
